Then came the internet. Then came this game altering change called social media and the consumer wanted a say. Today's consumer wants to be engaged in the dialog, and not just on the receiving end of a soapbox performance.
Today, the consumer is sitting pretty in the driver's seat, deciding for or against a brand's message – how it's said, where it's said and what's in it. If the consumer resonates, he or she then talks about it, tells a friend, shares it, uploads it on YouTube, links it... makes it contagious. It's viral. It spreads.
